PC/ABS alloys offer significant advantages for automotive applications compared to pure ABS or PC. Relative to ABS, PC/ABS enhances heat resistance, impact strength, and reduces common defects such as surface sinking and warpage. Compared with PC, the alloy improves melt flow, processability, and reduces stress sensitivity in the final product, all while helping to lower overall production costs. As such, ABS/PC blends are particularly suitable for automotive interior parts due to their excellent heat resistance, well-rounded mechanical properties, and favorable processing characteristics. For instance, dashboards manufactured from ABS/PC exhibit Vicat softening temperatures between 110°C and 135°C, meeting the requirements for vehicles exposed to high outdoor temperatures. In addition to dashboards, this material is used in numerous other automotive components including dashboard surrounds, coolant tanks, door handles, air deflectors, brackets, steering column covers, decorative trims, and HVAC system parts.
